LA hospital with no running water temporarily closed

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente temporarily will close its Woodland Hills Medical Center in Los Angeles after being told the facility won't have running water for several more days.

The hospital has been operating without running water since Sunday because of a water main break.

Despite the break, the hospital remained open, though it canceled dozens of elective surgeries and appointments.

Kaiser officials said the temporary closure is a result of a delay in restoring the water.

"Because the timeline for restoring water at the medical center campus is now estimated to be Saturday, Jan. 25, we have determined that the safest decision for our members, patients, physicians and staff is to temporarily close services and facilities at this location," Kaiser officials wrote in a news release
