Federal officials investigate crash landing of medical plane in Maine

Megan Knowles -

Federal Aviation Administration investigators are working to uncover the cause behind the crash landing of a medical transport plane Wednesday in Presque Isle, Maine, according to a Bangor Daily News report.

An engine caught fire while the plane took off from Northern Maine Regional Airport, and the aircraft crashed short of the runway when the pilot attempted to land, according to The Aroostook Medical Center.

All four passengers — the pilot, a patient, paramedic and nurse — were injured and evaluated at The Aroostook Medical Center, TAMC Communications Manager Karen Gonya said Wednesday.

FAA investigators arrived at the airport just after noon Friday, according to Adam Rider, deputy fire chief with the Presque Isle Fire Department.
