A Cleveland Clinic hospital is warning staff about a woman under police investigation who may attempt to steal a baby from the hospital's maternity ward, according to cleveland.com.

Cleveland Clinic officials said fliers were posted around Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's maternity ward Feb. 8 notifying staff to be wary of Dawn Brown.

Cleveland police are investigating Ms. Brown after she held several fundraisers while claiming she was pregnant and had cancer. Authorities are also investigating Ms. Brown's husband, who is a Cleveland police officer, the report states.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Clinic confirmed to cleveland.com fliers had been posted in the hospital's maternity award.

"Based on information we received from the Cleveland Police Department, we have taken extra measures to ensure patients are safe and secure at Fairview Hospital," Cleveland Clinic said in a statement. "We take this matter seriously and want to reassure our patients that their safety is our top priority."

A copy of the flier, obtained by Fox 8 Cleveland, states Ms. Brown is "currently running an ongoing scam involving a fake pregnancy," and that police believe she "is known to have scouted the Fairview Hospital Birthing Center" and is familiar with the hospital's procedures.

In their ongoing investigation into Ms. Brown, police reportedly discovered a GoFundMe page for Ms. Brown and her husband, allegedly created by the couple's friend. While the page has since been removed, a cached version of the website shows $725 was donated to the couple's cause during a one-week timeframe, according to cleveland.com. The GoFundMe page allegedly listed the couple's "mounting bills, medical bills and funeral expenses" as reasons to donate to their cause.
