CarePoint Health curbs ER wait times with in-home check-in

Jersey City, N.J.-based CarePoint Health started using InQuicker, an online check-in system for emergency care that patients can use from home, in August 2015. The system has improved patient flow and experience, according to a report from The Jersey Journal.

More than 1,000 patients have checked themselves into the ER of CarePoint hospitals in Jersey City, Bayonne and Hoboken, N.J., since the system was implemented.

Patient volume has increased while wait times have decreased, Tucker Woods, DO, CarePoint's director of emergency care, told The Jersey Journal.

"I think [the online system is] attracting patients that we didn't get before, because they'll do a Google search on something like 'where can I go for ankle pain' and they'll see they can register from home," he told the paper.

And in regard to wait times, Dr. Woods said, "Our waiting room wasn't bad to begin with, and I think it's even better now."
