Baby boom: Philadelphia hospitals see birth spike 9 months after Super Bowl win

Nine months after the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl, area hospitals are beginning to see a surge in babies being delivered, according to CBS Philly.

Wynnewood, Pa.-based Lankenau Medical Center, part of Philadelphia-based Main Line Health, is displaying a banner welcoming "Super Bowl babies." Nov. 4 marks exactly nine months since the team's Feb. 4 victory.

Nurses in the baby unit were told to expect a surge of deliveries since many couples likely conceived around the Eagles Super Bowl win.

"People like celebrating during happy times, so this is one way to celebrate,"Eva Martin, MD, an OB-GYN at Main Line Health, told CBS Philly.

Dr. Martin said several of the babies she's delivering have an Eagles connection, including some patients who were named after the team's players.

"It's really cool, it's fun because it's our hometown, our Super Bowl," said Main Line Health nurse Allison Smith. "We won and it's something fun to do for our town and our hospital to have all these babies here."
