Florida Hospital ad campaign appeals to 'human experience'

Orlando-based Florida Hospital, part of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System, launched a multimedia campaign called Someday Starts Today, which illustrates how the organization hopes to change its image in the community — from a medicine- and science-focused hospital to a patient- and community-focused facility, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

Here are four things to know.

1. The Someday campaign involves billboard advertisements in the community with phrases such as, "Someday hospitals will heal more than the body," or "Someday all communities will be healthier," according to the report.

"We hope that this becomes more than a campaign and becomes more of a conversation in the community," Daryl Tol, president and CEO of Florida Hospital and Adventist Health System's Central Florida Region, told the Orlando Sentinel.

2. The campaign comes as Florida Hospital has various initiatives in the works to expand community access, including telemedicine. The hospital is launching eCare, an urgent care telemedicine service, according to the report.

3. Other patient access and technology initiatives cited by the Orlando Sentinel include:

  • A $20 million investment in outpatient care, including care management and technologies
  • Partnerships with local nonprofit organizations such as LIFT Orlando, which, according to its website, is "comprised of business leaders partnering with residents to accelerate community transformation."
  • Establishing collaborations with technology companies through the hospital's Alliance & Innovation eXchange
