St. Clare Hospital brings out the big guns for orthopedic fundraiser — 3 details

Angie Stewart -

The SSM Health St. Clare Foundation is hosting a trap shoot to raise money for the orthopedic department at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wis., Baraboo News Republic reports.

Three details:

1. Proceeds from the sixth annual event on June 22 will help SSM Health St. Clare Foundation purchase upgraded technology and equipment. One round of shooting costs $20, and the fundraiser typically brings in between $7,000 and $10,000.

2. Orthopedic departments across the country could use funding because an aging population has caused demand for these services to rise, St. Clare Foundation Board President John Alt told the Baraboo News Republic.

"As the population ages, orthopedic needs continue to grow," said Mr. Alt, who has had both of his knees replaced. "I'm one of those baby boomers who has taken advantage of the various orthopedic procedures people need when they get older, and it just seems like a very fitting place to put our efforts at this time."

3. In 2018, St. Clare Foundation devoted more than $220,000 to clinical scholarships, technology upgrades and community projects.
