Hospital for Special Surgery's incoming medical director to lead new office — 4 details

Hospital for Special Surgery created a medical leadership office to be led by Bryan Kelly, MD, the incoming surgeon-in-chief and medical director.

Four details:

1. The HSS Office of Medical Leadership was created to "ensure the highest standards of quality in patient care, teaching, research and innovation," the New York City-based academic medical center said in a press release. U.S. News & World Report has named HSS the country's No. 1 hospital for orthopedics for nine consecutive years.

2. HSS named Douglas E. Padgett, MD, associate surgeon-in-chief and deputy medical director, effective July 1. Both positions are new within the Office of Medical Leadership.

3. Also on July 1, Mathias Bostrom, MD, will succeed Dr. Padgett as chief of the adult reconstruction and joint replacement service.

4. Dr. Kelly will begin leading the Office of Medical Leadership July 1.
