Crystal Clinic could lose approval for $100M orthopedic hospital

Angie Stewart -

The Fairlawn (Ohio) Planning Commission may walk back its approval for a $100 million orthopedic hospital development project, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Three details:

1. A judge ordered the planning commission to reconsider its approval for Fairlawn, Ohio-based Crystal Clinic to develop a 160,000-square-foot orthopedic hospital.

2. The judge said the commission didn't consider whether the height of the planned Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Hospital is compatible with residential surroundings.

3. The Fairlawn-based hospital would be nearly 50 feet tall, with 12 operating rooms and 60 inpatient beds. Neighboring homeowners have criticized the project.
