Eleven hospitals were recognized for orthopedic excellence in the past month:
Las Cruces-based Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico received The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Spinal Cord Injury Certification.
Culpeper (Va.) Medical Center received The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for knee and hip replacement surgery.
Nine hospitals were recognized by the UPMC Health Plan Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Center of Excellence program, a new distinction from the UPMC Health Plan Services Division:

- Butler (Pa.) Memorial Hospital
- Heritage Valley Beaver (Pa.)
- UPMC East (Monroeville, Pa.)
- UPMC Magee Hospital (Pittsburgh)
- UPMC St. Margaret (Pittsburgh)
- UPMC Passavant (Pittsburgh and Cranberry Township, Pa.)
- UPMC Shadyside (Pittsburgh)
- Monongahela (Pa.) Valley Hospital
