KLAS: Prescription intelligence software helps improve opioid prescribing practices

Opioid prescription intelligence software that is designed to integrate data from prescription drug monitoring programs into EHR systems is helping healthcare providers identify opioid-use disorder and improve prescribing practices, according to a KLAS Research report.

KLAS analyzed data from 60 healthcare organizations for its Opioid Prescription Intelligence 2019 report. Participants were asked about their opinions on the effectiveness of their organization's opioid prescription intelligence software. Scores are based on a nine-point scale.

When asked if the software their organization uses improves opioid prescribing practices, participants provided the following ratings of their vendors:

· Appriss Health: 8.1.
· PastRx: 8.5.
· AffirmHealth: 8.7.
· Collective Medical Technologies: 7.1.
· DrFirst: 8.0.

When asked if the software their organization uses identifies and prevents opioid-use disorder, participants provided the following ratings of their vendors:

· Appriss Health: 7.9.
· PastRx: 8.1.
· Collective Medical Technologies: 7.4.
· DrFirst: 7.4.
