Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center has broken ground on a $177 million radiation oncology facility in Fort Worth.
The facility is expected to open in 2028 and will be connected to UT Southwestern’s Moncrief Cancer Institute, according to a May 12 news release from the university.
Once open, it will be the largest radiation oncology facility in the Fort Worth area and home to the city’s first MRI-guided precision radiation treatment system, the release said.
The facility will also feature four linear accelerators, PET imaging and a brachytherapy suite.
The expansion was made possible through a donation from philanthropists Sherri and Robert “Bobby” L. Patton Jr., the release said.
