Fred Hutch appoints vice president of clinical research

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington department of medicine, both based in Seattle, named Sara Hurvitz, MD, senior vice president of the clinical research division at Fred Hutch and head of the division of hematology and oncology at UW.

Dr. Hurvitz, an international expert in breast oncology, will step into her role Aug. 1, according to a Fred Hutch news release.

Currently, she directs the breast oncology program at UCLA, co-directs the Santa Monica-UCLA outpatient oncology practice and serves as medical director of the clinical research unit for UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, all based in Los Angeles.
