Erlanger names oncology director

Erica Carbajal -

Erlanger Oncology — a cancer care partnership between Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System and Nashville-based Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center — has selected Sandeep Rajan, MD, as medical director of oncology and hematology.

Dr. Rajan, who is also an associate professor of medicine at Vanderbilt, has worked in many non-malignant hematology clinical and translational research programs. Hemophilia and bleeding disorders, thrombosis and clotting disorders, and non-malignant and malignant hematological disorders are among some of his clinical and research interests, the health system said in a July 19 news release.

Dr. Rajan earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, and completed an internal medicine residency at LAC and USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.

"He brings a wealth of experience in both clinical cancer care and research to Chattanooga, and, as a sub-specialist in hemophilia and sickle cell diseases, he offers Erlanger the expertise to continue care of this population as they age out of traditional pediatric care," said Nancy Davis, MD, senior medical director for Vanderbilt cancer center's cancer care network and strategy.
