Steven Leach, MD, will step down as director of the Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth Cancer Center and as the Preston T. and Virginia R. Kelsey Distinguished Chair in Cancer at Hanover, N.H.-based Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine in early 2026.

He will resume cancer genetics research in the department of molecular and systems biology, according to an April 14 news release from the Geisel School of Medicine.

A national search will be conducted for his successor, the release said.

Before joining Dartmouth Cancer Center as director in 2017, Dr. Leach served as the inaugural director of the Rubenstein Center for Pancreatic Research at New York City-based Memorial Sloan Cancer Center.
