Cedars-Sinai cancer leader stepping down

Director of Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Cancer, Dan Theodorescu, MD, PhD, is stepping down from the position after serving for six years.

Dr. Theordorescu will leave the role Feb. 28, to pursue other professional opportunities, according to a Feb. 17 news release from the health system. 

During his time as director, Cedars-Sinai Cancer doubled its funding from the National Institutes of Health, the release said. 

Deputy director of Cedars-Sinai Cancer, Robert Figlin, MD, will serve as interim director while a search for a new director is conducted. Dr. Figlin recently spoke to Becker’s about how Cedars-Sinai navigated cancer care during the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
