Here are 68 oncologists starting new roles:

  1. Michael Zelefsky, MD, was appointed director of brachytherapy at New York City-based NYU Langone's Perlmutter Cancer Center and vice chair for academic and faculty affairs in NYU Grossman School of Medicine's department of radiation oncology, effective Sept. 11.

  2. Fleming Island-based Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute welcomed hematologist and medical oncologist Raphael Bosse, MD, PhD.

  3. Little Rock, Ark.-based CARTI Cancer Center welcomed gynecologic oncologist Kathryn Kennedy, MD.

  4. Morta Lapkus, MD, a breast surgical oncologist, joined Naperville, Ill.-based Edward-Elmhurst Medical Group.

  5. Nina D'Abreo, MD, was named as chief of the division of hematology and medical oncology at New York City-based NYU Langone Health's Perlmutter Cancer Center—Sunset Park, effective Sept. 1.

  6. Dana Haynie was appointed president of oncology services at Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy.

  7. Tifton, Ga.-based Tift Regional Medical Center welcomed Sahithi Chittamuri, MD.

  8. Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag Family Cancer Institute named Simon Khagi, MD director of neuro-oncology.

  9. New York City-based New York Cancer & Blood Specialists welcomed Jason Naziri, MD.

  10. Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus Health welcomed back Zuhair Ghanem, MD.

  11. Tracy Crane, PhD, co-lead of cancer control at Miami-based Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, was named vice chair of NRG Oncology's Cancer Prevention and Control Committee, a National Clinical Trials Network group focused on improving outcomes for cancer patients in clinical research.

  12. Damon Reed, MD, joined New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as the inaugural head of the division of pediatric solid tumors and as chief of the pediatric sarcoma service.

  13. City of Hope Phoenix welcomes four oncologists to its team:
    • Christopher Chen, MD, a medical oncologist and hematologist, joined City of Hope Phoenix, practicing at the Gilbert Outpatient Care Center.
    • Tibor Kovacsovics, MD, joined City of Hope Phoenix as a hematologic oncologist and the hospital's leukemia program medical director.
    • Craig Hullett, MD, PhD, joined City of Hope Phoenix as a radiation oncologist.
    • Jonathan Moayyad, MD, joined City of Hope Phoenix as a radiation oncologist.

  14. Nashville, Tenn.-based Thyme Care appointed Samyukta Mullangi, MD, as medical oncology director.

  15. Niki Patel, MD, a hematologist-oncologist, joined the division of medical oncology at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Cancer.

  16. Medical oncologist Leslie Popplewell, MD, transferred from City of Hope Duarte (Calif.) to City of Hope Atlanta.

  17. Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke's Cancer Institute and Saint Luke's Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute tapped Samuel Goldlust, MD, to spearhead Saint Luke's neuro-oncology program.

  18. Beaufort (S.C.) Memorial Oncology Specialists welcomed Darren Mullins, MD.

  19. Gainesville-based University of Florida Health Cancer Center appointed two leaders of clinical research:
    • Thomas George, MD, as deputy director

  25.  Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital tapped two leaders:
    •  Warren "Jack" Pledger, MD, as associate director of basic sciences
    • Timothy Yeatman, MD, as associate director of translational research at TGH Cancer Institute.

  26. City of Hope Atlanta welcomed four new oncologists:

    • Sabarish Ram Ayyappan, MD, a hematologic oncologist
    • Dhivya Prabhakar, MD, triple board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology

  27. Tampa-based Moffitt Cancer Center appointed W. Gregory Sawyer, PhD, to lead the newly launched department of bioengineering.

  28. Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville (Fla.) named Anderson Collier III, MD, division chief of hematology and oncology, department of pediatrics.

  33. Philadelphia-based Fox Chase Cancer Center welcomed Abigail Berman, MD, as an assistant professor in the department of radiation oncology.

  35. Somerset, N.J.-based ProCure Proton Therapy Center welcomed radiation oncologist Timothy Chen, MD. 

  36. Rock Springs, Wyo.-based Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County appointed Dawn Piaia, BSN, medical oncology/hematology director at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County's Sweetwater Regional Cancer Center.

  37. David Winchester, MD, joined City of Hope Chicago as a surgical oncologist at its outpatient care center in Gurnee, Ill.

  38. Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital appointed Nikesh Shah, MD, a clinical investigator, to the TGH Cancer Institute.

  39. David Bull, MD, has been named vice president and medical director of heart and vascular at Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health.

  40. Camille Ragin, PhD, associate director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Philadelphia-based Fox Chase Cancer Center, was appointed chair of the Minorities in Cancer Research Council for the American Association for Cancer Research.

  41. Joanna Sesti, MD, was appointed director of thoracic surgery, Northern Region at West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health, a spokesperson for the health system shared with Becker's.

  42. Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health established its first endowed chair at the Novant Health Cancer Institute and named David Rizzieri, MD, system physician executive for the cancer institute, its inaugural physician.

  43. Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope appointed John Carpten, PhD, director of the comprehensive cancer center, director of Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope and chief scientific officer.

  44. Medical oncologist Nathaniel Cook, MD, joined the staff of Fall River, Mass.-based Saint Anne's Hospital Regional Cancer Center.

  45. Two cancer experts have been named to lead Mount Sinai’s new Tisch Cancer Hospital, which is due to open in 2027. 

  46. Cardinale Smith, MD, PhD, has been appointed chief medical officer of the hospital and vice president of cancer clinical affairs.
