Here are 38 cancer centers opening, expanding or affiliating:

  1. Kearney (Neb.) Regional Medical Center is partnering with Lincoln-based Cancer Partners of Nebraska to build a new cancer center for outpatient services.

  2. Salt Lake City-based Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah opened its Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women's Cancers.

  3. Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope converted a four-story office building into a cancer center.

  4. Highlands Cancer Center at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Ark., will open May 15.

  5. Alabama Cancer Care Network broke ground on a $6.5 million cancer center in Gadsden, Ala.

  6. Atlanta-based Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown opened May 9.
