Verras Watson Tool Digs Deeper to Identify Clinical Variation

Verras has launched a new tool to help physicians identify, understand and implement solutions for clinical variation.

The tool, called Verras Watson, is an extension of the company's Verras Sherlock, which helped examine hospital data to identify internal best practices. William Mohlenbrock, MD, Verras CMO, said, "Watson goes one step further and performs a 'deep dive' to understand the specific clinical and operational causes for the variation," according to the release. "That 'deep dive' can include analysis of patient bills, charts, order sets, case management reports and other resources."

Verras Watson then combines this data with one-on-one conversations with physicians to examine their own best practices and reduce variation between those best practices and other less efficient management practices. The tool can help improve hospital throughput, vendor management, computerized physician order entry and documentation.
