Massachusetts Health System CEO Resigns to Take Ohio Job

Vincent McCorkle, who has been president and CEO of the Sisters of Providence Health System in Springfield, Mass., for more than a decade, announced his resignation to take a position at an Ohio health system, according to a report in The Republican.


Mr. McCorkle is leaving to become the president and CEO of Akron General Health System in Ohio, beginning July 1, according to the report.

The Sisters of Providence board has named William Bithoney, MD, interim CEO until a permanent successor is found through a national search. Dr. Bithoney is currently the system's CMO and the COO of Mercy Medical Center, it's flagship, according to the report.
