Man dies after jumping from balcony at Barnes-Jewish medical building

A 64-year-old man died Monday after jumping from a balcony inside a medical building on the Barnes-Jewish Hospital campus in St. Louis.

A hospital spokeswoman told Becker's that the man, whose name has not been released, was a visitor of the Center for Advanced Medicine. He reportedly fell from an upper-level balcony in the building's atrium around 11 a.m. and landed on the ground floor. Staff and emergency personnel responded immediately, but they were unable to revive the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later determined his death to be suicide, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
