Lawmakers Make Progress Repealing, Replacing Medicare's SGR Formula

Staff -

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has released an updated draft of legislation that would repeal and replace the sustainable growth rate formula used to calculate Medicare reimbursements, a bipartisan move towards physician payment reform, according to a report by The Hill.

The legislation would replace the SGR with a system that relies more on patient outcomes than the volume of services rendered, according to the report.

The bill is scheduled to be marked up this week and is expected to move quickly to the House floor, according to the report.
