EEOC Files Disability Complaint Against Johns Hopkins Subsidiary

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a disability complaint against Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, alleging the Johns Hopkins Health System-operated provider failed to accommodate a former employee's disability, according to an EEOC news release.

According to the EEOC's complaint, JHHCG refused to provide a formerly employed registered nurse with reasonable accommodations when she returned to work following her breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The employee consequently filed a complaint with the EEOC. JHHCG in turn allegedly fired the employee in retaliation for filing the complaint. The agency is seeking injunctive relief and punitive damages as well as lost wages and benefits due to JHHCG's alleged discrimination.
