Dr. David Barrett to Step Down as CEO of Lahey Clinic

David M. Barrett, MD, has announced that he will step down as president and CEO of Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Clinic in Jan. 2011, according to a Lahey Clinic news release.


Dr. Barrett joined Lahey in Sept.1999. He will remain in a new strategic leadership role through Sept. 2012 as part of a succession plan. Lahey's Board of Trustees has formed a search committee to find Dr. Barrett's replacement, according to the release.

Under Dr. Barrett's leadership, Lahey Clinic completed facility expansions at its two medical centers in Burlington and Peabody; formed clinical partnerships with other area hospitals to provide specialty care; and strengthened its academic ties to Tufts University School of Medicine, according to the release. He also oversaw significant growth in surgical cases, outpatient encounters and discharges.
