Children's Hospitals GME Program Up for Reauthorization

A Senate committee has approved legislation that would reauthorize the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education program through fiscal year 2018, according to an AHA News Now report.

The bill, the Children's Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act, passed through the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Wednesday.

There is a version of the bill in the House of Representatives that would reauthorize the program through FY 2017, according to the report.

The Children's Hospitals GME program provides freestanding children's hospitals with funding to support medical residency programs, according to AHA News Now.
