Editor's notes: This article was modified December 7, 2012. Children's Hospital Los Angeles moved from 17th position to first to reflect the addition of 317 beds with the opening of its Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion in July 2011, which brought the total number of licensed beds to 603. Prior to this change, Texas Children's Hospital in Houston held the first position with 478 beds.
