100 Hospitals With Great Women's Health Programs — 2013

Becker's Hospital Review has named the following hospitals to its list, "100 Hospitals With Great Women's Health Programs." These hospitals offer outstanding women's health programs, such as gynecology, obstetrics, reproductive medicine and other women's health needs.

 

Hospitals were selected for this list based on clinical excellence, quality care and women's health awards. The hospitals have been recognized for excellence in women's health by several organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, UNICEF's Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative and CareChex.

Abbott Northwestern Hospital (Minneapolis). The hospital is one of the largest in the Twin Cities, and it serves more than 200,000 patients annually. According to 2011 data, the hospital has a staff of around 5,347 members and had a total of 3,908 births. The hospital collaborated with the St. Paul-based Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota to open The Mother Baby Center, which includes 13 labor and delivery rooms, a 24-bed postpartum unit and a 24-room special care nursery. The hospital also offers a women's heart health program. Abbott Northwestern Hospital was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, Ill.). The hospital is a 638-bed teaching, research and referral hospital as well as a level I trauma center. It includes 1,150 physicians representing 51 specialties and subspecialties. The hospital offers a number of specialty services for women through its obstetrics unit, which includes level III obstetric, perinatal and neonatal services, the Caldwell Breast Center, Chronic Pelvic Pain Center and Center for Fetal Care. The hospital has been named a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology by American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.

Augusta Health (Fishersville, Va.). The 255-bed hospital has more than 12,000 admissions annually. It has an active medical staff of 225. The hospital offers a wide array of women's health services, including a women's imaging center, which is accredited by the American College of Radiology. The imaging center includes a steriotactic core breast biopsy unit. The hospital also features a birthing suite with 10 labor rooms and certified nurse midwives. Augusta Health received an award for gynecologic surgery from Healthgrades.

Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center (Sioux Falls, S.D.). A 545-bed tertiary hospital, Avera McKennan is nationally recognized for its cancer, orthopedic, critical care and women's healthcare services. It offers women a wide array of specialty services, including maternal-fetal medicine, breast care and fertility care. It includes a 24-bed women's center and a level III neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital also offers a women's midlife care program to help with the emotional and hormonal changes that midlife brings. Avera McKennan was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

Banner Gateway Medical Center (Gilbert, Ariz.). The medical center includes 176 private rooms and eight operating suites, and in 2012, it had 14,129 admissions. It offers numerous women's health services, including maternity care, gynecology, breast health
and bone health. It provides minimally invasive alternatives, including robotics, for many gynecologic procedures such as hysterectomies and endometriosis. The women's imaging center provides mammography services as well as breast ultrasounds. Banner Gateway was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Baptist Medical Center (Jacksonville, Fla.). The 473-bed medical center includes around 4,079 employees. It is a Joint Commission-certified primary stroke center and an accredited chest pain center. It also offers a number of women's health services including, gynecology, urology, breast health, heart health as well as treatments for post-partum depression and osteoporosis. The Hill Breast Center in Jacksonville includes the latest technology such as digital mammography, LumaGEM molecular breast imaging, stereotactic core biopsy and bone density scanners. The medical center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis). The 1,167-bed hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and in 2011, had 54,282 inpatient admissions. It has 9,703 employees and a medical staff of 1,763. The hospital offers services in gynecology, pregnancy and childbirth and gynecologic oncology. Its obstetrics and gynecology clinic sees 24,000 patients annually, and the hospital includes a 26-bed special care nursery. The hospital also includes the Ronald and Hanna Evens Chair in Women's Health, which supports a medical professional who will help improve the standards of women's care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Barnes-Jewish Hospital was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
 
Baylor University Medical Center (Dallas). Baylor University Medical Center includes 1,065 beds and a medical staff of 1,012. It is the flagship hospital of Dallas-based Baylor Health Care System. Its services for women include gynecologic healthcare, childbirth services, treatment of pelvic floor disorders, robotic hysterectomy and imaging services. It also offers urogynecology care and gynecologic oncology. The hospital sees approximately 4,200 births each year and includes an 83-bed level III neonatal intensive care unit. The medical center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak (Mich.). Beaumont Hospital's women's health program is staffed by more than 125 obstetric and gynecologic specialists and subspecialists, as well as physicians focused on women's urology, breast cancer and heart disease. Beaumont offers a high-risk pregnancy program, reproductive genetics program and also includes a neonatal intensive care unit, a women's urology center and a women's heart center. It also offers treatments for uterine cancer and hysterectomies.

Brigham and Women's Hospital (Boston). The 793-bed hospital is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Annually, its inpatient admissions total 46,000. It offers a wide array of women's health services, including obstetrics, gynecology, fetal medicine, infertility and urogynecology. The hospital includes the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women's Health and Gender Biology, which aims to conduct research on gender-based biology and building awareness about women's health issues. The hospital was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Bon Secours-St. Mary's Hospital (Richmond, Va.). The 391-bed hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and has centers of excellence in heart failure, heart attack and hip and knee joint replacement. It also has a primary stroke center and provides comprehensive services in pediatrics, endocrinology, orthopaedics and urology. Its services for women include digital mammography, neonatology and perinatology. It also offers classes for expectant mothers, such as Lamaze and pre- and post-birth yoga as well as a lactation center. St. Mary's includes a pediatric neonatal intensive care unit and board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. The hospital has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Boone Hospital Center (Columbia, Mo.). The 397-bed regional referral center offers services in a number of specialties including cardiology, neurology, oncology and surgery services. It is accredited by The Joint Commission and employs more than 2,000 people. Boone offers specialty services for women and children and also includes a breast center. The services offered by the hospital include, electronic maternal-fetal monitoring antepartum testing, amniocentesis and neonatology. The hospital also includes a 21-bed intensive care nursery. The breast center offers mammography services and is staffed by certified radiologists. Boone Hospital Center was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles). Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is an 896-bed academic medical center. Its medical staff includes more than 2,000 physicians in a wide array of medical specialties, such as oncology, orthopedics, neurology and cardiology. Its women's health services include breast care, obstetrics and gynecology, osteoporosis and reproductive endocrinology. The hospital also includes a women's cancer program, a women's continence and pelvic health center and the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center. The medical center offers maternity services such as neonatology, lactation consulting and prenatal care. The medical center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Chelsea (Mich.) Community Hospital. Established in 1970, Chelsea Community Hospital is a nonprofit facility. It has a medical staff of more than 300 physicians. The hospital includes a women's health center that offers a number of services, such as breast care, colposcopy, gynecologic care, hormone replacement therapy, hysterectomies, menopause evaluation and management and infertility treatment. The center also offers osteoporosis treatment, pap tests and ovarian cyst treatment. The hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

The Christ Hospital (Cincinnati). The nonprofit acute-care hospital has 555 beds and employs more than 4,000 people. The hospital houses a prenatal clinic, a women's surgery center and a women's imaging center. It also offers birthing services, pelvic floor disorder treatments and urogynecology services. The women's surgery center performs a number of surgical services like minimally invasive surgery, and it includes six operating rooms, telemedicine technology and the latest imaging technology. It also offers the da Vinci surgical system for robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery. The hospital was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Christiana Hospital (Newark, Del.). A 913-bed, 1.3-million-square-foot facility, Christiana Hospital is a teaching hospital and has a medical staff of more than 1,400 physicians. It offers a wide array of primary care and specialty services, such as cancer care, emergency services, neurology, joint replacement, cardiology and trauma services. Its women's health program includes breast care, urogynecology, heart health, weight management, obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology. The hospital also houses a center for reproductive health and a level III neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Citrus Valley Medical Center-IC Campus (Covina, Calif.). The nonprofit 193-bed facility provides healthcare to the East San Gabriel Valley. The medical center houses the Citrus Valley Heart Center, a cardiac catheterization laboratory, a 38-bed medical/surgical unit and a 25-bed transitional care unit. Its women's health services include maternity care, a mammography screening center and robotic surgery for hysterectomies. The Carl E. Wynn Newborn Inn includes six labor and delivery rooms and it offers a series of childbirth preparation classes. The medical center received awards for maternity care and gynecologic surgery from Healthgrades in 2013.

Cleveland Clinic. With more than 1,400 beds on Cleveland Clinic main campus and 4,450 beds system-wide, Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest hospitals in the nation. It includes a medical staff of more than 3,000 physicians and surgeons. Its women's health institute offers a number of services, including gynecology, gynecologic oncology, pelvic floor disorders, maternal-fetal medicine and treatments for menopause. Cleveland Clinic also includes a fertility center, an in vitro fertilization laboratory and a breast center. Its obstetrics and family maternity center includes a level III neonatal intensive care unit. Cleveland Clinic was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

Duke University Medical Center (Durham, N.C.). Duke University Medical Center has 7,658 full-time employees. It includes the 957-bed Duke University Hospital, which houses a regional emergency/trauma center, a surgery suite containing 31 operating rooms and an endosurgery center. The Duke Heart Center offers specialized services for women's heart care and offers treatments for heart disease, such as diagnostic cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and cardiac bypass surgery. Duke also offers high-risk pregnancy care and the latest fertilization techniques. The medical center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Edward Hospital (Naperville, Ill.). The hospital includes 309 private patient rooms and employs 4,700 people. Its medical staff is comprised of nearly 1,050 physicians. The hospital houses a family birth center, a center for pelvic medicine and a breast center, which offer digital mammography, ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies. It also offers treatment for gynecological diseases, osteoporosis, gynecologic oncology and menopause and infertility counseling and treatment. The hospital's family birth center features a maternal-fetal medicine clinic. Edward Hospital was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Evanston (Ill.) Hospital. Established in 1891, Evanston Hospital is the nucleus of the NorthShore University HealthSystem. The health system offers a number of services specifically geared toward women's healthcare, including general gynecology, gynecologic oncology, bone health, maternity services and breast health. Evanston Hospital has a number of breast health specialists and includes an osteoporosis diagnostic imaging suite. It also serves as a Regional Perinatal Network hospital for northeastern Illinois, which means high-risk mothers and babies are transferred to the hospital. The Evanston Continence Center is recognized as a center of excellence in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. The hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

Florida Hospital Orlando. Florida Hospital Orlando is one of Florida Hospital's 22 campuses. It has an extensive women's health program that includes breast cancer, gynecology, infertility services, maternal fetal medicine, pelvic pain and urogynecology programs. It also includes a labor and delivery program and a 24-hour neonatal intensive care unit. In 2015, Florida Hospital will open a 12-story, 332-bed tower for women's health services. It was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Fountain Valley (Calif.) Regional Hospital & Medical Center. The acute-care hospital includes 400 beds and offers a number of comprehensive services in heart and stroke care, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, high-risk obstetrical services, bariatric surgery and orthopedics. It also offers maternity care and breast care services. The hospital includes an 11-bed pediatric intensive care unit and a 22-bed pediatric unit. Its breast care services include digital mammography, stereotactic breast biopsies and ultrasound technology. The hospital received an award for gynecologic surgery from Healthgrades in 2013.

H Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research (Tampa, Fla.). The 206-bed cancer center had 9,216 admissions in 2012. It is a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center and has received more than $55 million in grant funding. Its services include surgical care, chemotherapy, radiation, pain management and integrative medicine services. The facility has an infusion center and its department of radiology offers comprehensive diagnostic and interventional imaging services. It also offers emotional support to its patients such as counseling and psychological services. The center was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center. A 675-bed medical facility, Hackensack UMC provides healthcare services to the residents of New Jersey's Bergen County. It includes a heart and vascular hospital, a cancer center, a children's hospital and the Donna A. Sanzari Women's Hospital. The women's hospital is part of the 300,000-square-foot Sarkis and Siran Gabrellian Women's and Children's Pavilion. It includes 60 private mother-baby rooms, 14 private labor, delivery and recovery rooms, six triage beds and a maternal fetal medicine perinatal diagnostic unit. It also includes the Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care, which offers a number of imaging services including mammography and MRI services. The medical center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Halifax Health Medical Center (Daytona Beach, Fla.). The 678-bed hospital includes a 24-hour emergency department and a level II trauma center. It offers a number of women's health services, including breast health, gynecology and gynecologic oncology. It also offers advanced alternatives to hysterectomies, hormone replacement therapy, bone density testing, treatments for bladder disorders and urologic cancers. The medical center includes a Multiple Sclerosis center that provides specialized care for MS patients. In 2013, the medical center received an award for maternity care from Healthgrades.

Hartford (Conn.) Hospital. Hartford Hospital is the major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut Medical School, and it includes a level I trauma center and an air ambulance system. The hospital offers a women's health program, which includes pregnancy and childbirth services, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology services and behavioral health services. The gynecology services include urogynecology, gynecologic oncology and treatments for symptoms related to uterine fibroids. Its behavioral health services include counseling and psychotherapy treatment of a number of disorders including anxiety and weight and stress management. Hartford Hospital is a Baby-Friendly facility designated by Baby-Friendly USA.

Highland Hospital (Rochester, N.Y.). Opened in 1889, the hospital offers comprehensive orthopedic, women's health and geriatric services. Its women's health program provides obstetrics and gynecology services as well as treatments for menstrual, pelvic organ and pelvic floor disorders. It also offers minimally invasive and robotic surgery. The hospital's family maternity center offers care for high-risk patients and has an onsite perinatal center. It recently introduced scarless gynecology surgeries with the use of surgical robots. The hospital has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Hoag Hospital Newport Beach (Calif.). Hoag Hospital Newport Beach is an acute care, nonprofit hospital that includes institutes specializing in care for cancer, heart and vascular conditions, neurosciences, women's health and orthopedics. The Hoag Women's Health Institute offers a number of services such as gynecology care and surgical services as well as breast care screening, diagnosis, treatment and surgery. Its providers care for cervical cancer, osteoporosis and pelvic pain. The hospital also offers emotional support for pregnancy and infant loss. The hospital is a Baby-Friendly facility designated by Baby-Friendly USA.

Holy Cross Hospital (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). The hospital includes a cancer center, family wellness pavilion, emergency services, epilepsy monitoring unit and diagnostic imaging center. The hospital offers maternity and childbirth services and includes a 15-bed postpartum unit and a 24-hour level II neonatal intensive unit. The hospital also includes a satellite location such as The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex. The women's center offers mammography services, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation services and treatment for osteoporosis. Holy Cross Hospital has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Fox Chase Cancer Center (Philadelphia). The 100-bed hospital is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Women's Cancer Center at Fox Chase Cancer Center offers treatments breast and gynecologic cancers. It also includes a breast evaluation center that provides mammography and MRI services as well as outpatient biopsies. The cancer center has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. The Women's Cancer Center also includes breast cancer survivor clinic that offers care for cancer survivors. The cancer center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia). The hospital provides interdisciplinary and personalized healthcare services to its patients. It offers a wide array of procedures and services in specialties such as endocrinology, hematology-oncology, orthopedics and pediatrics. It also has a comprehensive women's health program that includes behavioral health, fertility care, skin health, cancer care and bariatric surgery. The hospital includes The Helen O. Dickens Center for Women's Health, which offers gynecologic and obstetric care as well as menopause services. In 2013, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital (Indianapolis). The 828-bed is the flagship facility of 16-hospital IU Health. It includes cardiovascular, orthopedic and neuroscience services. Its women's health program provides obstetrical care as well as prenatal diagnosis services. In addition, it offers pelvic medicine and maternity services, including lactation support at its breastfeeding center. It also includes a neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital has a "pathways support program" for women who face complications in their pregnancies and families who experience the loss of a baby before or soon after its birth. The health system is designated as being Baby-Friendly by Baby-Friendly USA.

Inova Fairfax Hospital (Falls Church, Va.). The 833-bed Inova Fairfax Hospital is Inova Health System's flagship hospital. It includes a level I trauma center as well as a level IV neonatal intensive care unit. Its women's health program offers childbirth, gynecologic cancer and gynecology services, such as treatments for pelvic floor disorders. It also includes a gynecologic operative suite and offers robotic surgery options. Additionally, the hospital offers breast health services such as digital breast imaging, biopsy, cancer treatment and reconstruction. Inova Fairfax Hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

Integris Baptist Medical Center (Oklahoma City). The medical center is a 511-bed facility offering a full range of surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services. It includes a heart hospital, ear institute and a burn center. It offers a number of services geared toward women, such as breast healthcare, labor and delivery as well as urogynocology. It also includes The Bennett Fertility Institute, which offers advanced infertility diagnostic studies and treatment to patients. The institute also offers in vitro fertilization and micromanipulation procedures. The medical center was named one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecologic surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

John Muir Medical Center (Walnut Creek, Calif.). The medical center is licensed for 572 beds and is designated as a trauma center. It provides care in a number of specialties, including low-risk obstetrics, orthopedics, neurosciences, cardiac care and cancer care. Its services geared toward women include a family birth center and breastfeeding support services. The family birth center includes labor and delivery rooms, surgical suites as well as a level III neonatal intensive care unit. The medical center also provides treatments for osteoporosis for women and medical imaging services including mammography. John Muir Medical Center has been awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore). The hospital was established in 1889 and, as a part of The Johns Hopkins Health System, has access to a vast network of clinical and laboratory services, including the Women's Center for Pelvic Health, Women's Mood Disorders Center, Women's Cardiovascular Health Center and a breast center. Together, these centers offer treatments for a wide array of conditions such as neuro-urologic disorders, pelvic organ prolapse, breast cancer and heart disease. In addition, the mood disorders center offers treatments for anxiety and suicidal thoughts, among other disorders. The hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.

Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Anaheim (Calif.) Medical Center. The medical center is one of two Kaiser Permanente hospitals that offers Kaiser Permanente Orange County women's health services. The services include pregnancy and maternity care, gynecologic services, reproductive infertility services, urogynecology services, gynecology oncology services and minimally invasive surgery. Its gynecology services include fertility services and bladder and pelvic healthcare. The program also includes specialists in maternal fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology. The medical center is a Baby-Friendly facility designated by Baby-Friendly USA.

Lancaster (Pa.) General Hospital. The hospital offers a number of specialized services, including cardiac, neurologic, orthopedic and intensive care services. It also includes the Women & Babies Hospital that focuses on the healthcare needs of women. Its maternity care services include a labor and delivery unit, couplet care, nurseries and a level III neonatal intensive care unit. The Women & Babies Hospital also includes a women's specialty center that houses specialists in women's heart health, women's digestive health and women's behavioral health. The hospital offers surgery services in gynecology, urology and oncology. The hospital has received an award for gynecologic surgery from Healthgrades.

Leesburg (Fla.) Regional Medical Center. The 322-bed acute-care hospital offers services in various specialties, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, cardiology, obstetrics and women's health, oncology and pediatrics. Physicians at The Life Center at LRMC provide highly specialized care for women. The Life Center includes private gynecology suites, two operating and recovery rooms for special or emergent needs and obstetric triage services. It also offers minimally invasive surgical services and childbirth classes. LRMC also offers digital mammography.

Little Company of Mary Hospital (Evergreen Park, Ill.). Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers is comprised of nearly 2,000 employees and 13 facilities. Its women's health program offers care for gynecologic and pelvic floor disorders as well as bone health. It also includes a breast health center, which has received the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Radiology. The women's health services also include treatments for osteoporosis, bariatric services and reconstructive services. The hospital includes a family birth center that offers a maternal fetal medicine program. The hospital is a Baby-Friendly facility designated by Baby-Friendly USA.

Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC (Pittsburgh). The hospital offers clinical programs for women in a number of specialties including bladder and pelvic health, breast cancer care, fetal surgery and fetal medicine, gynecologic cancers, lupus, neonatology and obstetrics and gynecology. It is recognized as a National Center of Excellence in Women's Health by HHS. It is also a teaching facility for obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology and neonatology for the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, the hospital offers treatment for digestive disorders, a Fibroid Treatment Center and a Women's Midlife Health Center, which provides care for women in perimenopause and menopause.

Maimonides Medical Center (New York). Maimonides Medical Center is a nonprofit academic medical center that offers services in a wide array of specialties such as cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics and pediatrics. As part of its obstetrics and gynecology services, the hospital has a birthing center, which includes an 11-room labor and delivery suite and offers reproductive endocrinology and infertility services, robotic and laparoscopic gynecology and urogynecology services. In 2011, the hospital opened a dedicated breast cancer center that offers screening, diagnostic, medical and surgical breast care services. The medical center received an award for gynecologic surgery from Healthgrades in 2013.

Martin Memorial Medical Center (Stuart, Fla.). The 244-bed medical center is one of two hospitals that are a part of Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health System. The medical center's mother-baby unit includes labor-delivery-recovery rooms and surgical suites for Cesarean births. The center offers support services such as breastfeeding consultants and a lactation station. The maternity services also include a home visit program, under which a nurse will go to the homes of new mothers to check in on them and the baby. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York.). Established in 1884, Memorial Sloan-Kettering is a National Cancer Institute–designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with 469 inpatient beds and a 72,000-square-foot surgical center. The center's Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center includes a number of services such as medical oncology, chemotherapy, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation. The cancer center also offers treatments for endometrial and uterine cancers and minimally invasive and robotic surgical options for ovarian cancer. Memorial Regional Hospital (Hollywood, Fla.). Established in 1953, Memorial Regional Hospital includes a cardiac and vascular center, the Memorial Cancer Institute and the Neuroscience Center. It is also a level I trauma center. The hospital includes a family birth center, which has 39 private suites and a total of 53 beds as well as 14 labor/delivery/recovery suites. Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City. Physicians at the 380-bed hospital performed 13,862 surgeries and 50,016 patients visited the emergency department in 2012. Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center. As of 2012, the medical center has 663 beds and 5,967 employees. It is a level I regional trauma center and offers behavioral health, cardiovascular, neurosurgery and pediatric emergency services. It offers a comprehensive women's health program that includes an arthritis center, breast center, gynecologic care, urogynecologic care and a women's cancer center. It also includes a maternity center with a 56-bed nursery and a 54-bed mother-baby unit that offer maternal-fetal medicine and care for high-risk pregnancies. The medical center is also a level III regional perinatal center. Mount Sinai Medical Center (New York). Founded in 1852, the medical center is a 1,171-bed, tertiary-care teaching facility. The Mount Sinai Medical Center encompasses The Mount Sinai Hospital and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, which has a faculty of more than 3,400 in 38 clinical and basic science departments. Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago). Founded in 1972, the academic medical center is affiliated with Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and has more than 1,600 affiliated physicians. Its Prentice Women's Hospital provides a wide variety of services and specialized care for women, including services for pelvic floor disorders, maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive genetics, fertility preservation, osteoporosis and heart health. N.C. Women's Hospital (Chapel Hill). N.C. Woman's Hospital offers a comprehensive array of women's specialty services. It includes an obstetrics clinic, which provides maternal-fetal medicine, midwifery and women's primary healthcare services. The hospital also includes board-certified lactation consultants on staff seven days a week. The hospital also serves as a location for the UNC Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology's patient care programs, including advanced laparoscopy and pelvic pain treatments, family planning, fertility services, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and reproductive endocrinology. Strong Memorial Hospital (Rochester, N.Y.). Its obstetrics and gynecology department includes a fibroid clinic and menopause management, hysterectomy surgeries and urogynecology treatments. In 2013, the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and International Lactation Consultant Association recognized UH MacDonald Women's Hospital for excellence in lactation care. UH Case Medical Center was also been ranked as one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecology in the country by U.S. News & World Report in 2013.

University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. The 1,046-bed facility offers patients a complete range of primary and specialty care services. It is the centerpiece of the UAB Health System. It includes the UAB Women and Infants Center, which is a 400,000-square-foot hospital that features private labor, antepartum, postpartum and gynecology patient rooms. The center includes a maternal-fetal medicine clinic where specialists are available 24 hours a day who care for unborn babies with medical or congenital conditions. The hospital also offers services in urogynecology, pelvic reconstructive surgery, reproductive endocrinology and infertility. It provides minimally invasive and robotic surgery for gynecologic conditions. In 2013, four of its physicians received certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.   

University of California San Diego Medical Center. The 392-bed hospital at UC San Diego Medical Center houses a regional burn center, a level III neonatal intensive care unit, a level I trauma center, a birth center and a National Institutes of Health-designated clinical research center. The birth center includes five birthing suites, a parents' resource area and includes a nurse midwifery service. The 49-bed neonatal intensive care unit includes a team of neonatologists who are available 24 hours a day. UC San Diego Health System's obstetrics and gynecology program is offered at all its locations, including UC San Diego Medical Center. It offers a number of services, such as blood pressure and cholesterol screening, pelvic exams and pap smears, breast exams and bone density scans. The medical center has been designated a Baby-Friendly facility by Baby-Friendly USA.

University of California San Francisco Medical Center. The medical center has about 38,000 hospital admissions a year and providers offer comprehensive care in a wide range of specialties, from oncology to women's health. The UCSF Women's Health Center is a nationally designated center of excellence in women's health. It includes the Center for Reproductive Health, Chronic Pelvic Pain Center, Comprehensive Fibroid Center and Fetal Treatment Center. It offers comprehensive gynecologic treatments, including polycystic ovarian syndrome, urinary tract infections, incontinence and menopause. It also offers a number of special programs, such as preconception and prenatal genetic counseling, provided by the Prenatal Diagnosis Center. In 2013, U.S. News & World Report ranked the medical center as one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecology in the country.

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (Iowa City). The hospital includes more than 700 beds and is a comprehensive academic medical center and a regional referral center. It admitted more than 32,000 patients during its 2012 fiscal year. Its women's health program includes services in gynecology, obstetrics, cancer care for women, breast health and sports medicine. Its women healthcare team comprises nearly 30 physician specialists as well as certified nurse midwives and advanced registered nurse practitioners. Gynecological surgery, fibroid treatments, infertility care, labor and deliver, high-risk pregnancies, cervical cancer, uterine cancer and vulvar vaginal diseases are some of the conditions that the women's healthcare team treats. The hospital has been designated a Magnet facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

University of Kansas Hospital (Kansas City). The hospital offers care in a number of specialties, such as oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, neurology and neurosurgery and nephrology. The academic medical center also includes a level I trauma center, a center for organ transplantation and an accredited adult burn center. It offers a comprehensive women's health program that provides cancer care, heart disease treatments and obstetrics and gynecology services. The program includes the Breast Cancer Prevention Center, aimed at identifying and providing treatments for women who are high risk. Obstetrics and gynecology services are offered through the Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine, Center for High-Risk Pregnancy, Center for Advanced Fetal Care and Center for Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine. The hospital also offers pediatric gynecology services. The University of Kansas Hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.   

University of Maryland Medical Center (Baltimore). Founded in 1823, the 800-bed hospital is one of the nation's oldest academic medical centers. It includes around 7,825 employees and 1,149 attending physicians and faculty. UMMC's department of obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive services offers minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, advanced fetal care and menopause management services. UMMC also includes a breast center, which provides digital mammography, diagnostic breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, fine-needle aspiration and reconstructive surgery consultation services. It also includes a center for continence and pelvic health, which offers treatments for pelvic floor disorders. In 2013, U.S. News & World Report ranked the medical center as one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecology in the country.

University of Michigan Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital (Ann Arbor). In 2011, the women's hospital at University of Michigan Health System moved into the 12-story C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital facility. In the facility, obstetric and gynecology clinics share a floor with the Women's Birth Center, which includes 50 maternity care beds in private rooms. The hospital provides a wide array of obstetrics and gynecology services, including care for women with developmental disabilities, comprehensive infertility services including in vitro fertilization, genetic counseling, gynecologic management for women with breast cancer, pelvic pain treatments and prenatal diagnostics. The University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.    

University of Tennessee Medical Center (Knoxville). The 581-bed hospital is an academic medical center and level I trauma center. It includes a heart hospital, comprehensive stroke center, and it serves as a regional perinatal center. Its Center for Women & Children's Health includes services in breast health, pregnancy and childbirth, urogynecology, heart health and nutrition. The University Breast Center is recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. It offers digital mammography services, computer-aided detection, bone densitometer scan and breast MRI with biopsy. The hospital has been designated a Magnet facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). The center included 616 beds and had 26,726 hospital admissions in 2012, according to the most recent data available. In 2012, there were also about 8,500 registrants in clinical trials exploring novel treatments. MD Anderson's Laura Lee Blanton Gynecological Oncology Center offers diagnoses and treatment services for a number of cancer types affecting women's reproductive organs, including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulvar and fallopian tube cancer. It also offers a number of specialized programs such as the Clinical Cancer Genetics Program. The Nellie B. Connally Breast Center at MD Anderson provides comprehensive treatments for all types of breast cancer, including inflammatory breast cancer, breast cancer during pregnancy and breast cancer in men. MD Anderson was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.    

University of Washington Medical Center (Seattle). UW Medical Center is part of the UW Medicine health system, and in 2012, had 450 beds and 1,829 physicians. Physicians at UWMC provide specialized medical care in areas such as cardiology, high-risk pregnancy and neonatal intensive care, oncology and orthopedics. UWMC includes the Maternal and Infant Care Clinic, which offers pregnancy-related and obstetric care for women such as premature birth prevention, antenatal fetal testing and triage and treatment for infectious disease in pregnancy. The Prenatal Diagnosis Clinic is a part of the Maternal and Infant Care Clinic and offers high-resolution ultrasounds and fetal echocardiograms. UWMC also includes a Urology Clinic, which offers urogynecology services. The medical center has been designated a Baby-Friendly facility by Baby-Friendly USA.

University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (Madison). The 566-bed facility is an academic medical center and offers care in oncology, pediatrics, ophthalmology and neurosurgery. It includes level I adult and pediatric trauma centers. The hospital's breast center provides breast imaging and breast reconstruction services as well as a number of services for treating breast cancer. The gynecology clinic offers treatments for bowel and rectal incontinence, fistulas, menopause, lower genital tract dysplasia and pelvic floor dysfunction. Physicians offer pap smears, cervical biopsies and reproductive surgeries such as robotic hysterectomies. In 2013, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital as one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecology in the country.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, Tenn.). The medical center includes more than 600 beds and in 2012-2013 performed 35,112 surgeries. The Vanderbilt Center for Women's Health includes a gynecology program, an infertility and reproductive endocrinology program, female pelvic disorders support and pregnancy and delivery care. The center offers specialized care for high-risk pregnancies and has a team of maternal-fetal specialists. Physicians also provide urogynecology services, pap smears, breast exams and treatment of vaginal infections. The Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center offers diagnoses and treatments for gynecologic cancers. Vanderbilt University Medical Center was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.     

Western Pennsylvania Hospital (Pittsburgh). West Penn Hospital is a 292-bed academic medical center and is a member of Pittsburgh-based West Penn Allegheny Health System, a physician-led organization. It offers services in a number of specialized areas, including bone marrow and cell transplantation, burn care and reproductive medicine. It also offers a number of services in women's health such as menopause care, basic infertility testing and family planning services. Urogynecology services are provided at the Center for Female Incontinence and Pelvic Health based in West Penn Hospital. The hospital also includes a 40-bed level III neonatal intensive care unit and admits about 700 critically ill newborns annually. The hospital includes a lactation center and all inpatient nursing mothers are seen by a lactation consultant. The hospital has been designated a Magnet facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Wheaton Franciscan-St. Joseph Campus (Milwaukee). The academic, medical facility includes 538 beds. It offers care in numerous specialties such as cardiology, nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, palliative care, pulmonary care and pain management. Its women's health program includes bone health, breast health and gynecological services — such as biopsies, treatment for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence — osteoporosis treatments, hormone replacement therapy education and breast health exams. The hospital also includes a level III neonatal intensive care unit with maternal-fetal specialists and neonatologists. The hospital's prenatal assessment center offers testing for and treatment of high-risk pregnancies. In 2012, the hospital was given an excellence award for maternity care by Healthgrades, and in 2013, U.S. News & World Report ranked it as one of the top 50 hospitals for gynecology in the country.

Woman's Hospital (Baton Rouge, La.). The hospital specializes in the care of women and babies and offers a wide array of services, including mammography services, metabolic health services, nutrition services, cancer care and surgery. Its cancer care program includes therapies for treating breast gynecologic and colorectal cancer. Woman's Hospital also includes a new infusion center and medical/surgery unit. Woman's Metabolic Health Clinic offers specialized services for women with a history of gestational diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome. Woman's Hospital also offers outpatient orthopedic surgery services for women, a center for reproductive medicine and a comprehensive program of perinatal care.  

Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital. Yale-New Haven Hospital is a nonprofit, 1,541-bed tertiary medical center receiving national and international referrals. It includes approximately 11,500 employees and 3,600 university and community physicians. It offers a number of women's health services, such as the Gynecologic Cancers Program at Smilow Cancer Hospital. The gynecologic services offered at the hospital cover breast health, urogynecologic conditions and heart health. The hospital also offers a wide array of maternity services, such as prenatal testing conducted by maternal-fetal medicine specialists, labor and delivery and care for high-risk pregnancies. It also includes a 54-bed neonatal intensive care unit and maternal special care unit for women experiencing medical problems that can affect pregnancy. The hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals for women's health in 2013 by CareChex.
