Student volunteer sues West Virginia hospital for sexual harassment

A teen volunteer filed a lawsuit against Beckley (W.Va.) Appalachian Regional Hospital and one of its former employed physicians for alleged sexual harassment, according to The Register-Herald.

The lawsuit was filed by a 15-year-old girl and her father against the health system and Zouhair Kabbara, MD. The lawsuit alleges ARH knew of at least 20 other reports of sexual harassment involving Dr. Kabbara, according to The Register-Herald.

In addition to the sexual harassment allegations, the suit alleges the hospital retaliated against the girl for reporting the behavior by barring her and her father, who is also a volunteer at Beckley ARH, from volunteer opportunities.

ARH confirmed to The Register-Herald that it received the lawsuit and that Dr. Kabbara is no longer employed or on staff at Beckley ARH.
