The Montana Nurses Association dropped its charges against Kalispell (Mont.) Regional Healthcare that alleged the system violated federal law with its employee restructuring plans, hospital officials confirmed to the Daily Inter Lake.
"After review of the facts, the matter was withdrawn by the MNA and the NLRB closed the investigation," a Kalispell Regional spokesperson told the publication in a Feb. 7 email.
The nurses association filed charges against the health system in December. Hospital administrators reportedly told nurses and directors their positions had been eliminated and invited them to reapply for newly created roles. They said the effort was part of a systemwide restructuring plan that would affect roughly 130 leaders within the health system.
However, the MNA alleged in a press release that hospital officials sought to lay off more than 100 charge nurses and said the system's restructuring plans violated the National Labor Relations Act.
The hospital spokesperson told the Daily Inter Lake that with the exception of five charge nurses who received severance pay, all affected nurses secured new clinical positions, and many were promoted.
