North Dakota attorney general wants more staff for Medicaid fraud unit

North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley wants more staff for the state's Medicaid fraud unit, Prairie Public Broadcasting reported Nov. 28.

Mr. Wrigley said in the 10 months he has been in office, the unit has recouped enough in fraudulent payments to finance itself for the next two years.

The office currently has six employees. Mr. Wrigley will ask the state's legislature to fund more staff.

The state's Medicaid fraud unit was created in 2019, after years of resistance from the legislature, the radio station reported.
