Medical supplier accused of stealing $231k worth of medical supplies from 2 hospitals

A medical supply vendor employee is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing $231,000 worth of medical supplies from two hospitals and selling them online, according to The Fairfax Times.

Burke Slater reportedly stole seven medical kits worth $33,000 each from two hospitals, Alexandria, Va.-based Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and one unidentified hospital in Maryland. He attempted to sell the medical kits on eBay.

Mr. Slater had access to operating rooms because he was an employee of a medical supply vendor. It is unclear where he was employed.

Mr. Slater has been charged with grand larceny, possessing stolen property with intent to sell and money laundering. He turned himself in April 25 and was released on bond.
