Home healthcare provider settles with Massachusetts over Medicaid fraud allegations

Allied Health Systems, a Springfield, Mass.-based home health provider, will pay $430,000 to settle allegations of Medicaid fraud, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey said Oct. 5.

The attorney general alleges that Allied Health Systems billed the state's Medicaid program, MassHealth, for services not authorized by a physician.

In addition to the payment, Allied Health Systems agreed to operate under a three-year compliance program as part of the settlement. It will pay for the cost of the compliance monitoring.

According to a news release, the Massachusetts attorney general's office has successfully prosecuted three home health companies for fraud since 2016 and settled with 14 others.
