Christopher Dame, a former employee at the National Institutes of Health headquarters in Bethesda, Md., pled guilty to theft of government property on May 3 for regularly stealing equipment from the NIH, according to NBC Washington.

Mr. Dame, who worked at NIH for 20 years, admitted to stealing medical research equipment, photography equipment and printing supplies from January 2013 through January 2017 and selling them on eBay. During that time period, Mr. Dame stole more than 400 items valued at $75,613.14, according to the report.

"[Mr.] Dame is deeply remorseful for his conduct, has accepted full responsibility by pleading guilty to theft of government property before indictment and agreeing to make full restitution to the government," Mr. Dame's attorney said in a statement, according to NBC Washington. "He hopes that with the help of professionals and the passage of time, he will better understand what led him to throw away his long career at NIH."
