California hospital releases security footage of gunman at facility

Alyssa Rege -

Bakersfield (Calif.) Heart Hospital released a clip of surveillance footage showing the gunman who opened fire inside the facility Friday afternoon, BakersfieldNow.com reports.

The footage shows gunman Brandon Clark, 44, shooting the glass out of a door and heading into the facility. The camera then switches to a different angle, showing staff and visitors quickly fleeing for cover.

Previous news reports indicate Mr. Clark opened fire while inside the facility.

In the final seconds of the footage, the camera switches back to the first angle and shows Mr. Clark exiting the facility through the same door he entered through. He was later shot and injured by police.

No police officers, patients or hospital staff were injured during the incident.

Mr. Clark is currently at the hospital receiving treatment for his injuries, police told BakersfieldNow.com.

Police also said they believe Mr. Clark was related to one of the hospital's employees. However, the employee was reportedly unaware Mr. Clark was at the facility Friday during the time of the shooting, the report states.

Authorities said they do not believe the employee was the target of the shooting.
