Bridal shop's lawsuit against Texas Health Resources over Ebola-related closure heads to state's supreme court

The Texas Supreme Court will decide in November if Arlington-based Texas Health Resources was negligent when two of its nurses were infected with Ebola on the job, according to CBS Dallas/Forth Worth.

The lawsuit was filed by an Ohio bridal shop — Coming Attractions Bridal & Formal — which alleges a visit from THR nurse Amanda Vinson, RN, caused it to lose business and eventually close, according to the report.

Despite wearing a hazardous materials suit and face shield, Ms. Vinson contracted the disease while caring for Thomas Duncan, the first patient with Ebola in the U.S. in 2014. She visited the bridal shop before knowing she had the disease.

The shop was temporarily closed for cleaning, which the shop owner claimed caused it to lose $100,000 in business and ultimately caused closure when the shop couldn't shake its reputation as the "Ebola store," according to the report.
