When the Supreme Court agreed to hear the latest ACA challenge, it put many Senate Republicans in a tough spot, according to The Hill.
The lawsuit, which was brought by a coalition of Republican states and is backed by the Trump administration, seeks to overturn the entire healthcare law, including its most popular provisions, like health insurance protections for people with preexisting conditions.
The Supreme Court's decision to hear the case, which is expected to occur this fall, has pushed the issue to the forefront for Republicans, who have not yet proposed an alternative to preserve the consumer protections provided under the ACA. Those interviewed by The Hill declined to comment.
For example, Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, told The Hill: "I'm not saying whether I support [the lawsuit] or not. It's in the hands of the Supreme Court now, so we'll see."
