1. Arizona hospitals' balance billing practices violate federal law, court rules
Hospitals in Arizona that bill the state's Medicaid program will violate federal law if they balance-bill patients for any unpaid treatment, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled March 9.

2. Patient sues Essentia Health alleging it overcharged for medical records
A Wisconsin resident is suing Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health alleging the health system overcharged her for copies of her medical records.

3. UW Medicine faces class-action lawsuit following data breach that affected 974,000 patients
Several patients involved in a data breach at Seattle-based UW Medicine sued the academic medical center claiming their protected health information was not properly safeguarded.

4. Ex-CEO agrees to settle case alleging he was 'scapegoat' for Vermont hospital's financial troubles
Springfield (Vt.) Hospital and Springfield (Vt.) Medical Care Systems entered into a settlement agreement with their former CEO to resolve a case that had been pending for roughly seven months.

5. Black hospital employees told to 'get over' racist remarks, lawsuit claims
A former patient technician is suing St. Luke's Health System, accusing the Kansas City, Mo.-based system of racial discrimination and retaliation.

6. Hospital worker fired for refusing flu shot not victim of religious bias, court rules
