Job opportunity: Chief Executive Officer - New London Hospital

New London Hospital (NLH) [a member of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System] is currently seeking a dynamic executive with a proven track record of healthcare leadership and a passionate commitment to community engagement to be our next leader.

 

This role reports jointly to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH) System President/CEO and to the NLH Board of Trustees Chair and will be responsible for ensuring that the mission and strategic objectives of NLH are achieved in an efficient, effective, and high quality manner, consistent with the health needs of the NLH service area and the strategic objectives of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (DHH) system. The CEO may be assigned additional leadership responsibilities with the D-HH system. 

The ideal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) candidate will be responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of NLH, a critical access hospital within the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health system. He/She will be responsible for promoting an environment of internal and external collaboration and building and guiding a culture of exceptional service. This leader will be committed to the delivery of high quality, exceptional care to our patients and their families and will bring a comprehensive understanding of sound fiscal operations and be a vigilant, but innovative, steward of all NLH and system resources.

New London Hospital, located in New London, NH, has a rich tradition of quality, service and caring. Serving the healthcare needs of the greater New London area for over 100 years, NLH is a nonprofit community hospital accredited by the State of New Hampshire as a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, that provides primary care, emergency and specialized clinical services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Master’s Degree in health administration, public health, or related field.

Required Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior level health care leadership or administrative position required. Candidates will be reviewed based on experience, demonstrated performance and potential.

  • Engagement: Ability to lead and participate as a member of a diverse team. Is inclusive in leadership approach to communication and decision-making.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of health care finance.
  • Effective communication: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Exhibits high degree of comfort in speaking before small and large groups, government and regulatory bodies.
  • Understands relationship and cultural aspects of a community hospital working within a larger matrixed health system and associated responsibilities of self and team.
  • Appreciates the multiple regions served, their characteristics and demographics and unique aspects of working within a rural healthcare environment.
