Researchers at the University of Buffalo (N.Y.) are working on Conscientiousness Coach, an app used to treat cognitive decline in multiple sclerosis patients.
The app will be designed to promote conscientious behavior. Researchers at the University of Buffalo found that an app promoting conscientiousness among MS patients could lead to MS patients being able to remain in the workforce for longer, according to the Oct. 12 University of Buffalo news release.
"Research suggests that a high level of conscientiousness is predictive of better outcomes in neurological illness, and as such may be linked to traditional concepts of cognitive reserve, described as a kind of mental leeway built up over a lifetime that fosters resilience in the face of cerebral injury," app developer Ralph Benedict, PhD, said.
