Radiology leaders plan to use AI for these 8 types of medical imaging

Jessica Kim Cohen -

The majority of radiology leaders see potential in using machine learning capabilities to analyze breast imaging above other types of medical imaging, according to a Reaction Data survey.

For the survey, Reaction Data asked 133 directors of radiology, imaging directors and radiologists, among other stakeholders, about their attitudes toward machine learning, a type of artificial intelligence in which a computer learns over time, rather than having to be programmed like typical software.

Here are eight types of medical imaging on which participants said they plan to use machine learning algorithms.

1. Breast imaging: 68 percent

2. Lung imaging: 61 percent

3. Chest X-rays: 58 percent

4. Bone imaging: 38 percent

5. Cardiovascular imaging: 36 percent

6. Liver imaging: 34 percent

7. Neural aneurysm imaging: 26 percent

8. Pulmonary hypertension imaging: 16 percent
