NewYork-Presbyterian named a most innovative company in AI: Here's what earned it the title

New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian was named a top 10 most innovative company in artificial intelligence by Fast Company in  its annual ranking.

Here is what made NewYork-Presbyterian's AI work shine.

1. NewYork-Presbyterian's Clinical Operations Center —  a remote monitoring system and command center connecting clinical care programs throughout the health system —deploys AI to help nurses track emergency department patients' physiologic data in real-time. AI also helps check hospital bed activity through smartbed technology, as well as temperatures of refrigerators that store life-saving medicine.

2. The CLOC is also home to the technical infrastructure of NYP OnDemand, the health system's suite of telemedicine services.

3. NYP OnDemand's Express Care program — which uses telemedicine to drive ED wait times down nearly 75 minutes — received extra praise from Fast Company.

4. "We are pleased to be recognized as a leader in artificial intelligence and telemedicine by Fast Company as we explore new ways to use technology to deliver even higher quality, more compassionate care to our patients," said Steven Corwin, MD, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian. "Through innovation and technology, we hope to lower healthcare costs, elevate care and ultimately improve the lives of the people in the communities we serve."
