Invitae, research program partner for data sharing

Medical genetics company Invitae is partnering with research program Simons Searchlight to analyze rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders through data sharing.

Invitae will share its longitudinal clinical data taken from the Intviate Ciitizen patient data platform, and Simons Searchlight will provide patient outcomes and biospecimens. Researchers said they hope this collaboration will accelerate drug development, according to a Sept. 12 Invitae news release.

"Our partnership and the resulting datasets will help improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as STXBP1, SYNGAP1 and others," Jennifer Tjernagel, senior project manager at Simons Searchlight, said in the release. "Having the support of Invitae's Ciitizen platform will help pair patient-reported data with clinical information for in-depth data analysis."
