Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital in Huntington, W. Va., has detected Legionella bacteria in the water supply at an administration building, the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources said April 27.

The state-run psychiatric hospital found the bacteria in several sinks, including one in the CEO's restroom, during routine annual water testing.

The hospital is installing an industrial hot water tank and plans to test the whole building, the health department said. In the meantime, about 30 employees who work in the administration building will either temporarily work in a different hospital building or work from home.

So far, the bacteria has not been found in any buildings with patient care areas, the health department said.
