CMS to Offer End-to-End ICD-10 Testing

Staff -

CMS has announced the agency will offer end-to-end ICD-10 testing this summer.

The testing will allow providers and others to submit practice claims to CMS and receive feedback on how the claims were processed. This testing is in addition to the more limited testing to be offered March 3-7, during which providers will just be informed if their claim was accepted or rejected.

CMS has been facing mounting pressure from providers to offer such testing prior to the Oct. 1 deadline to transition to ICD-10. Last week, in a letter urging CMS to reconsider the ICD-10 mandate, the American Medical Association explicitly called for CMS to at least offer end-to-end testing to help providers better prepare for the looming transition.
