Steward Health Care increases staff at newly owned hospitals

In May, Boston-based Steward Health Care completed its purchase of eight hospitals from Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems. The purchase included three Florida hospitals, three Ohio hospitals and two Pennsylvania hospitals.

Less than six months later, Steward has increased staff at two of the hospitals — Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio, and Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio, according to a Tribune Chronicle report.

At TMH, 105 full- and part-time employees have been added since the acquisition was completed, the hospital's president, Ron Bierman, told the publication. Northside has added 37 full-time workers.

Increased staff is not the only change Steward is implementing. The fully integrated healthcare system is also working on implementing an advanced EHR system with a go-live expected next summer, according to the report.

Steward currently has 4,500 physicians and 36 hospital campuses.
