Hospitals and unions: 8 recent conflicts, agreements

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following events related to hospital-union relationships — including pickets, contracts and elections — since Oct. 24.

1. Kaiser nurses picket at more than 20 locations amid contract negotiations
Kaiser Permanente registered nurses and nurse practitioners picketed Nov. 2 at more than 20 California medical centers.

2. Tufts nurses hold first picket since July strike
Nurses at Boston-based Tufts Medical Center picketed Nov. 2 as a contract agreement with management remains unreached.

3. Allegheny General reaches labor deal with nurses union
Nurses at Pittsburgh-based Allegheny General Hospital ratified a new contract agreement with management Oct. 30, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

4. Lima Memorial Health System nurses ratify labor deal
Lima (Ohio) Memorial Health System nurses voted to ratify a new contract Oct. 23.

5. Tri-City Medical Center nurses ratify 3.5-year agreement
Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, Calif., reached an agreement with the California Nurses Association.

6. Kent Hospital, nurses union reach agreement
Kent Hospital in Warwick, R.I., part of Providence, R.I.-based Care New England, reached an agreement with the United Nurses and Allied Professionals.

7. Cashiers at Mayo campuses vote to join SEIU
Cashiers at Mayo Clinic's Saint Marys and Methodist campuses in Rochester, Minn., voted in favor of unionization, according to a Workday Minnesota report.

8. Hi-Desert Medical Center workers unionize
Healthcare workers at Joshua Tree, Calif.-based Hi-Desert Medical Center voted in favor of unionization.
