Kelly Gooch -

Boston Medical Center and its nurses have settled on a labor deal, according to The Boston Globe.

The four-year contract covers nearly 1,700 registered nurses and licensed practical nurses represented by District 1199 of the Service Employees International Union.

It includes a 5 percent raise on an employee's hiring anniversary as well as a 7 percent raise before October 2022 for those on at the top pay step, according to the Globe, citing information from the union.

The hospital also reportedly has agreed to hire an independent security consultant, offer free classes on safety issues and double tuition reimbursement for nurses who have been employed at least six months.
