The union said via news release Thursday the vote was 88 percent for unionization. The vote covers nurses at Barton Memorial Hospital as well as Lake Tahoe Surgery Center.

Regarding the vote, Jennifer Lemmon, assistant director of organizing at CNA, told the Tahoe Daily Tribune it "shows the nurses of Barton Memorial Hospital are united in joining the California Nurses Association to provide the highest quality patient care and the best working conditions for nurses."

Barton Health also provided a statement to the publication, saying it "respects the nurses' decision and right to join a union. We remain committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care together."
