Abington Health, Aria Health, Einstein Healthcare Network Partner to Manage Employee Benefit Plans

Abington (Pa.) Health, Philadelphia-based Aria Health and Einstein Healthcare Network, also in Philadelphia, have developed a new initiative to jointly manage their employees' healthcare benefit plans.

The initiative allows the three Philadelphia-area systems to collaborate while remaining independent. While the short-term goal of the arrangement is for the benefit plans of employees and families, the initiative can ultimately help model the future of healthcare delivery through population health management in the region, according to a news release.

Abington, Aria and Einstein Healthcare Network have formed a limited liability company for the initiative and each will invest an equal amount into the partnership. The initiative has not yet been named.

"This new approach, which we will offer first to our employees and their families, is built on care coordination, proactive interventions that prevent illness and collaboration with an array of community resources," Kathleen Kinslow, Aria Health president and CEO, explained in the release.

"Our goal is to employ population health management concepts so that the health of our employees and their dependents, and the health benefits that we provide, are improved," Lawrence Merlis, Abington Health president and CEO, said in the release.
