Mercy Hospital Springfield (Mo.) has fired 12 employees for allegedly treating patients poorly, according to Ozarks First.
Hospital spokesperson Sonya Kullmann said the terminations were the result of "highly tense situations" in which the fired employees failed to act with "dignity and compassion." In the wake of these incidents, the hospital is also instituting new trainings to help caregivers de-escalate situations and uphold a safe environment.
"The actions we have taken, and the new level of training we are implementing, are critical to ensuring that our co-workers have the education and support necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone," said Brent Hubbard, the hospital's chief operating officer.
